Dear Boarding Camp Players and Parents:

We are excited to have our inaugural boarding camps at North Yarmouth Academy in beautiful coastal Yarmouth, Maine. We have put together an unbelievable program set-up not only for on the ice, but off the ice as well. You will not find another hockey camp like this one anywhere.

This will be THE premier boarding camp of the summer. The camp director is an NHL skating coach who will be there full-time, every day, 8 hours a day. You will also be working with NHL, AHL, D-I College counselors who are not there just for pictures, but WORKING. You will have the lowest instructor to player ratio in the country.

Off ice, you will learn from a professional strength and conditioning coach, as well as a Yale-educated nutritionist to teach you how to fuel your body; a professional trainer to treat your bumps and bruises. After a week at our camp, you can be assured that you will be:

  • Physically and mentally stronger;
  • More knowledgeable about the game;
  • A stronger, faster skater, and
  • More skilled with the puck at high speed.

This is the Pro Experience camp; the only one in the industry, and you will be treated like a pro from the minute you arrive. Unlike other camps, you will have access to a full-time equipment manager and his staff to wash your gear, fix your helmet, sharpen your skates, lay out your equipment in your own locker every day, your own water on the bench for you every session. Just like the Pros.

For accommodations, you will not be staying in a dormitory, but at the Best Western in Yarmouth, 2 minutes from the rink. Our own buses will shuttle the players back and for every day. At the hotel, you will have your own private, separate building, where the players will share a room, but unlike a dorm, will have maid service and their own bathrooms.  The players will be under tight supervision, with a full time nurse at the camp 24/7, a security guard at the hotel, and 3-4 adult supervisors per floor. We only have 2 floors and have kept the number of kids to a small, intimate, tightly watched group.

Food will be served three meals a day at NYA. This will not be typical boarding camp slop, but every night there is a theme dinner, like a real Maine lobster bake, or a western steak night. No one will ever be hungry. There will be scheduled activities nightly, such a Portland Sea Dogs baseball game, or a ferry ride out to the Casco Bay islands, a trip to Fun Town Splash Town, etc. We will organize a Mission hockey scavenger hunt, which will be the real deal with awesome prizes and fun like a chance to get a Mission stick, skates, hats, gloves, or Under Armour gear.

Through years of experience and exposure to different types of boarding camps, we have put together a complete hockey camp, making this the most incredible hockey experience you will have ever had as a player or parent. Great facilities, incredible staff and activities, all in a safe, wholesome and fun environment.

You can be assured that I have personally hand picked the facilities, transportation and staff, as well as developed the ultimate program curriculum to make this camp second to none.

I look forward to seeing you at NYA in July.

Sincerely,

Graeme Townshend
Camp Director
